      Each pattern fills in that mechanic's normal shifts every week. For a rota, pick any date that starts a block of days on. Relief mechanics only show in weeks they have jobs or a shift.

      Use one row per defect with a header row. Columns that work best: Vehicle (reg or fleet no.), Defect, Description, and optionally Reported from, Priority and Date reported. A defect column like “N29 - Wiper inop” works without a vehicle column.
